The Offering
Why this prasad, and why this way
In Puri the fire has not been allowed to go out. Everything is cooked in earthen pots stacked one above the other, and the pot on top cooks first — the only kitchen where physics is asked to step aside. Mahaprasad is served to everyone alike, in the same courtyard, and that is the point of it. We collect from the Ananda Bazaar and pack while it is still warm.

For my father's first shraddha
I could not go to Puri myself this year. The khaja came in the Ananda Bazaar wrapping, and the sankalp card had my father's name and our gotra written correctly, which I had braced myself to find wrong. The donation certificate for the hundi amount was attached to my order the next day.
